History of Costandis

Originally named Zolotets, Costandis was constructed in 1989 by the Soviet Union. She arrived in Cyprus in 1997, serving as a fishing trawler in the Eastern Mediterranean for several years. In an effort to enhance marine biodiversity, she was donated and purposefully sunk on February 22nd, 2014, approximately 1 km off the coast within the Dasoudi Marine Protected Area.

Resting upright on the seabed, Costandis meets the first deck at 20 meters and reaches a maximum depth of 25 meters. Just a 5-minute boat ride from our base, she has become a thriving artificial reef, significantly contributing to the local marine ecosystem.

Today, Costandis is home to a wide range of marine life, most notably a massive resident grouper named Zen Goliath. This site is recommended for more experienced divers and is often used for two dives of the Advanced Scuba Diver Course.
